# Application Servers

## Record Service Application Servers <a href="#scalability-applicationservers-recordserviceapplicationservers" id="scalability-applicationservers-recordserviceapplicationservers"></a>

Fabric uses AWS Elastic Beanstalk to host the core Record Service Application that drives the back end of the Fabric Platform. Elastic Beanstalk provides a number of features to help handle scalability, Fabric utilizes automatic scaling and load balancing.

### Automatic scaling:&#x20;

Elastic Beanstalk can automatically scale your application based on demand, using either pre-defined thresholds or custom metrics. You can set minimum and maximum instance limits for your application, and Elastic Beanstalk will automatically add or remove instances as needed to maintain the desired level of performance.

Fabric uses detection of the number of workers being utilized to auto-scale the application servers out horizontally (More Servers are provisioned)

### Load balancing:&#x20;

Elastic Beanstalk provides built-in load balancing capabilities, which distribute traffic across multiple instances of your application. This helps to improve performance and availability and also allows Elastic Beanstalk to automatically adjust the number of instances in response to changes in demand.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Provisioning of additional servers up to 6 in the Live environment does not incur additional costs. If you need more than 6 in your Live Environment for a sustained period of time - Contact your account manager.
