# FOX Studios

FOX Broadcasting selects Fabric to lead supply chain transformation.

After the split from FOX Entertainment under the Disney acquisition, FOX Broadcasting was in a technologically challenging position. A number of its key supply chain systems were siloed remnants of the organizational split, and it was supporting these legacy applications and related processes with a large number of resources performing repetitive manual tasks.

The production and creative advertising ecosystem consist ed of numerous disparate, isolated systems, with supporting developers and knowledge experts long departed, and no centralized means of integration or reporting. Production and marketing teams struggled to track assets and retrieving accurate visibility and statuses from the existing supply chain systems was impossible. Contemporaneously, FOX was enjoying commercial successes with many of its existing and newly created titles and franchises. With this in mind, Fox the strategic decision to fast-track a supply chain transformation, using best-of-breed vendors and systems integrators.

## Key issues at the start of the engagement

### Lack of a source-of-truth internally.

No centralized view of Titles, IP, Rights, Metadata or Assets. This in turn led to:

• Large amounts of task & work duplication

• Duplication of asset generation (Imagery, subtitles, graphics, etc.)

• Inability to maximize revenue from catalog licensing & distribution deals

• Inconsistent & disparate enrichment of titles in different systems with different data sets

• Deliveries (Linear, VOD, digital) containing incorrect & missing metadata

• Increased legal risk due to lack of IP provenance

• Users manually matching and registering titles with external services (Gracenote, AD-ID, etc.) via online portals, spreadsheets and emails

• Longer planning cycles with lack of flexibility and / or accuracy

• Inability to keep sensitive content information & pre-release titles confidential during incubation stages

• No easily accessible place to review or begin title enrichment for work-in-progress titles & edits

• Different systems managing different title types (TV, Promos, Movies, etc.)

## Solution

Fabric was implemented to provide a new home for the core title catalog and metadata, and to provide a centralized reference point for the most important data points from across the supply chain.

Key systems were identified for integration in the first phase launch, and included Rights (Rightsline), Enrichment Sources (Foxipedia - Internal, Gracenote & AD-ID) and Asset Management Systems (CatDV - Production Assets, Elements - Finished Content Assets).

With Title, Rights, Image and Asset data now aggregated, normalized and available in a single location, Fabric was then also able to provide FOX with a multitude of invaluable reporting capabilities.
## Fabric also worked with FOX on two innovative features:

### Title Security Levels

Allowing a security level to be assigned to each title, enabling the business to make more sensitive titles only available to smaller groups of users, and;

### Native integration into AD-ID

Allowing titles to be matched or registered automatically.

## Connect

Fabric also deployed its Connect screener application, which retrieves streaming assets from multiple MAM sources for simplified inventory browsing of titles and work in progress / draft edits, through an intuitive, consumer-styled user interface. This dynamic tool helps senior executives and others with simplified browsing and use case reviews. Currently planned future phases include the migration of the Tubi library and services into Fabric, and data-retrieval from Linear & Non-Linear scheduling systems.

## Goals, Benefits & Value

The key benefits of the Fabric implementation are summarized below:

• Centralized title catalog source-of-truth, accessible by the entire organization, enabling:

• Minimizing or eliminating duplication in title manage- ment and metadata enrichment.

• Single view of all assets across multiple MAMs, eliminating duplicate asset ordering

• Increased ability to maximize catalog IP value for sales & licensing

• Centralized & standardized title enrichment data

• Substantial reduction of deliveries with incomplete, incorrect or missing metadata

• Audit trail of metadata IP, reducing legal risk

• A remarkable (90%) automated process for matching and registering both Gracenote and AD-ID Titles

• Shorter planning cycles with more flexibility and accuracy

• Ability to restrict pre-release & sensitive data to smaller stakeholder groups

• Simple, intuitive access point for reviewing work-in progress & draft edits

• Centralized system for managing all catalog title types
