# Record Workflows

With Record Workflows (previously Record Approvals), you can efficiently manage and transition records through various statuses, which are configurable based on your business needs. This ensures seamless collaboration and efficient record management.

## :gear: Core Functionality

1. **Flexible Configuration:** Admin users can [configure approval groups, statuses, and pre-defined justifications](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/discovery-record-tabs/record-properties/record-workflows/configuring-record-workflows.md) through Fabric Preferences. This empowers you to customize the approval workflow according to your specific requirements.
2. **Status Transition and Justification:** Users with appropriate permissions can easily [transition records across different statuses](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/discovery-record-tabs/record-properties/record-workflows/viewing-and-submitting-a-status-change-record-workflows.md). When changing the status, they have the option to provide a justification for the status change. Justifications can be selected from a pre-defined list, which can be configured in Preferences, or typed in manually.
3. **Asynchronous Workflow:** The Record Workflows feature enables the asynchronous progression of the workflow. Users can assign individuals to the approval process, ensuring efficient collaboration across teams and departments. Notifications take care of the rest! The result: smooth and timely record management, even when team members are not available simultaneously.
4. **Automatic Status Update:** Once all relevant approval groups have approved the record, the Record Status automatically updates to `Approved`. This automated process eliminates the need for manual intervention and provides instant visibility into the record's availability in the Fabric catalog.

If you have any feedback or would like to know more about Record Workflows, don’t hesitate to ask your Customer Success Manager 🙂 .

{% hint style="warning" %}
You can enable Record Workflows from the [User Policies](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/role-management/user-policies.md) section of the application, however we recommend checking with your Customer Success Manager to make sure the Integration can be set-up without any additional configuration changes.
