In the Metadata tab, users can use record builder to create new custom metadata fields.
## Tile Types:
Small Tiles ### [Boolean](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/small-tiles/create-boolean-and-free-text-tiles.md) A boolean field is a binary variable that can have one of two possible values (e.g. 0-false or 1-true). ### [Free Text](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/small-tiles/create-boolean-and-free-text-tiles.md) Free text field. Small tiles have a maximum character count of 180 characters. ### [Dropdown Select](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/small-tiles/create-dropdown-tiles.md) A dropdown select is a dropdown that allows selection of a single value from a series of options. ### [Multi-Select Dropdown](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/small-tiles/create-dropdown-tiles.md) A dropdown that allows selection of multiple values from a series of options. ### [Date](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/small-tiles/create-date-time-and-duration-tiles.md) A field that allows the entry or selection of a Date. ### [Time](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/small-tiles/create-date-time-and-duration-tiles.md) A field that allows the entry of a Time. ### [Date & Time](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/small-tiles/create-date-time-and-duration-tiles.md) A field that allows the selection of Date and/or Time. ### [Duration](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/small-tiles/create-date-time-and-duration-tiles.md) A field that allows the entry of a duration. ### [Year](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/small-tiles/create-date-time-and-duration-tiles.md) A field that allows the entry and selection of year.
Large Tiles ### [Free Text](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/large-tiles/create-free-text-tiles.md) Free text field with a maximum character count of 180 characters. ### [Chip Selector](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/record-builder/metadata-custom-fields/large-tiles/create-chip-selector-tiles.md) Compact elements that represent an input or attribute, allowing the selection of multiple values from a series of options.
## User Permissions If you cannot see the Custom Field section in your records, you may need to update your permissions. Head to [Role Management](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/role-management.md) > [User Policies](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/role-management/user-policies.md), and select the policy that is assigned to your [Role](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/role-management/user-roles.md). \ Scroll to Collections Access > Metadata, and make sure Custom Fields is selected. Don't forget to save your changes!
## Integration and Setup #### Integrations and Implementation notes This release will maintain compatibility with current client integrations. However, clients should be aware of the following important details: * Throughout the beta phase leading up to the full launch of Record Builder v3 (concluding at the end of Q1), any fields created by clients in **`Metadata - Custom Fields`** will initially appear in the **`origination_v2`** section of the payload.
