# Managing Catalogs

## :hammer:   How to manage Catalogs in Preferences

Learn how to edit and add new catalogs, as well add records to catalogs:

Press the pencil icon to edit existing catalog names.

You can also add records to catalogs at creation in [Bulk Data Ingest](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/bulk-data-ingest-nuvo.md) by filling out the Record Catalogs column.

Go to the [Record Properties](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/discovery-record-tabs/record-properties.md) to add a Record to a Catalog.

You can also add Records to Catalogs at creation in [Bulk Data Ingest](/fabric-knowledge-base/learn-the-application/destinations/preferences/bulk-data-ingest-nuvo.md) by filling out the Record Catalog column in your file.

When a user creates a record and does not specify any catalog, the system employs the default catalog logic to ensure proper categorization of records.
