# Discovery / Record Search

## Introduction to Discovery

Discovery is an area of the Fabric application that allows users to easily navigate the catalog of available items. Users can search for specific items or browse through various categories to find what they need. Once they have found an item they are interested in, they can access detailed information about it by clicking on it.

This feature is essential for users who need to quickly find records within the Fabric catalog.

## What is the difference between Discovery and Record Search?

We have drastically improved our Discovery destination with the addition of Advanced Search (allowing users to seamlessly search and filter by specific data groupings) and a brand new user interface to increase efficiency and ease of use when navigating your record catalog. \

To make the transition as seamless as possible, for a short period of time, users will be able to access the old Discovery destination as before, as well as the transformed destination which will temporarily be called 'Record Search'. Eventually, the old version will be removed and 'Record Search' will become the new Discovery.
