# Custom Workflows with Fabric Studio and Flomenco

The following are example workflows supported by Fabric Studio’s integration with Flomenco. While these workflows can be viewed in the Flomenco application, they are typically run automatically in the background triggered by actions in Fabric Studio and interacting with the Fabric Studio API.

## Workflows Triggered by Fabric Studio Actions

Fabric Studio triggers Flomenco workflows based on messages sent to the Fabric Studio Amazon SNS Topic.

* Flomenco is configured as a consumer of the Fabric SNS Topic
* Business Logic nodes allow some Fabric Studio application actions to trigger the workflow while other actions are ignored
* The data from Fabric is written to downstream systems (e.g. Spreadsheet)
* Flomenco Email node is used to notify end users of the status of the workflow

## Workflows Using the Fabric Studio API

External systems trigger Flomenco workflows based on in-application actions (e.g. storage node - Amazon S3).

* Business Logic nodes allow determine what actions in the external system (e.g. spreadsheet) should write data to Fabric Studio
* The data from the external system (e.g. spreadsheet) is written to Fabric Studio via the API
